Children – Inpatient

All of the professionals at South Oaks Child and Adolescent Center of Excellence (located on the Nassau/Suffolk border on Long Island, New York), realize how emotionally difficult it can be for parents or caregivers to handle challenging problems with a young child. We share in your concern, and offer an effective therapeutic program to restore their balance and stability in such an important phase of their development.

The Children’s Inpatient Program at South Oaks Child and Adolescent Center of Excellence provides treatment on a discreet unit to children ages 5 through 12 who experience acute behavioral and/or emotional problems, such as Attention-Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anger management, and a broad range of mood disorders. Our innovative program is overseen by Board Certified Physicians specializing in child psychiatry and Pediatricians and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who collaborate with a highly specialized healthcare team to provide quality care.

Our success can be attributed to our proven behavioral support that provides freedom, structure and positive reinforcement, coupled with an effective therapeutic rehabilitation program managed by licensed Therapists and Physiologists. The therapeutic rehabilitation program cultivates wellness and independence through daily activities like recreational, occupational and experiential therapy, creative arts and physical fitness. Combined, our treatments emphasize personal and community responsibility, character, education, individualized goal setting and the performance of alternative coping skills.

It is important that our patients are also able to meet their educational requirements during their stay. Classes are held on-site by certified Educational Professionals to maintain academic standards during inpatient treatment.

We offer support for parents and caregivers through family sessions with licensed Social Workers. These sessions offer information on diagnoses, parenting and coping skills, education and availability of in-home services, as well as the caring, comfort and support parents and caregivers need at this time.

Visiting hours are available.
